Plein Air Painting: How-To Class

4-Hr Offsite Plein Air Painting Instructional Class for All Skill Levels.


Description

Level: Beginner to Advanced Instructor: PJ * Supplies not included. You’ll need to bring everything, including water for brush cleaning, paper towels, water or a drink and a snack. Never tried Plein air? No problem! This 4 hour workshop will focus on observing and capturing the scenic impression of two separate settings including gardens, fields, livestock and barns. Students will learn perspective techniques, color recipes, how to create depth in your painting and how to apply the paint in layers that achieve a beautiful piece in one sitting. Offsite Location: On a Farm in Eustis (A private residence. Address and directions will be emailed upon registering) ---------------------------------------------- * * * * * * SUPPLY LIST * * * * * * ---------------------------------------------- TOOLS: ------------------------- - (Solvent) Gamblin Gamsol or Eco Solve are the least toxic options. Oderless mineral spirits will also work. - Oil Paint Medium - small bottle (Liquin Original by Winsor & Newton) - 3-4 Canvas panels (9x12) - Travel easel with palette - Folding chair if needed Extras: remember, this is an offsite class, so please wear comfortable footwear, sunglasses or hats and appropriate attire. May want to bring a paint rag or paper towels * some off site supplies are available to borrow if needed. Please check availability first. First come first serve. OIL PAINT COLORS ( Gamblin brand paints are the healthiest) ------------------------- A good cost effective set is the Gamblin 1980 oil paint set which can be purchased online or at most stores that carry art supplies (Micheals, JoAnne Fabrics, but not Hobby Lobby.) OR you can buy individual tubes: - Titanium White - Cadmium Yellow Light - Ultramarine Blue - Phthalo Blue - Burnt Sienna - Cadmium Red Medium BRUSHES ------------------------- Various sizes of bristle brushes Small detail nylon brushes -Note from Sheri and Michael at Lassiter Ranch Our animals are on special diets so please, there is no feeding any. Please stay clear of the Bee Yard. The farm is a Smoke Free Venue. Artists are welcome to bring lunch and non-alcohol beverages, use our picnic areas with some seating and the Fort Buster Open Air Theater with bathroom facilities. See you there! Cancellation Policy

class bookings need to be done on our website, even if you plan to pay in person. We accept all major credit cards and PayPal online. Payments: In-person credit card sales will no longer be accepted for classes so the teacher can focus on getting the students ready. The only in-person payments will be cash/check, but the online pre-registration will still need to be done, and we ask that you write a message letting us know the planned payment method. Cancellations & Refunds: Any course that doesn’t meet a minimum of 4 prepaid students 48hrs before the start will likely be canceled. We will notify students via email and text. Prepaid registrations may be shifted to another upcoming course or refunded. If you miss one of the scheduled classes, contact your teacher directly to schedule the makeup day. No refunds will be issued for registration cancellations within 4 business days of the first class, or for any course where 1 or more classes were attended.
